Bill Signings + Georgia History
Dayle and I ask each of you to join us in continuing to pray for the families, farmers, and communities across South Georgia as wildfires continue to burn. I joined Governor Kemp last Sunday in Brantley County to witness firsthand the ongoing relief efforts. It renewed my hope to see so many firefighters, first responders, community leaders, and volunteers come together to do what Georgians do best—lend a helping hand to our neighbors in need.
Thanks to the all-hands-on-deck effort of our state agencies and local partners, the Pineland Rd Fire is now at 32,569 acres and 23% contained, and the Highway 82 Fire is now at 22,601 acres and 32% contained. Please remain vigilant and continue to adhere to public safety guidelines and burn bans to prevent new fires.

On Tuesday, we traveled to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center to celebrate the signing of legislation to strengthen public safety, support the families of our law enforcement, and ensure our public safety officers receive the resources and benefits they have rightfully earned.
The Georgia House remains committed to standing alongside them and ensuring we always honor their service and dedication.

We wrapped up the day on Tuesday at the Georgia Forestry Association’s headquarters in Forsyth, where Governor Kemp signed legislation securing the future success and prosperity of our state’s No. 1 industry. From tax relief for farmers and timber producers to additional measures supporting Hurricane Helene relief, the House remains committed to strengthening our agriculture industry and standing alongside our farmers and agriculture families every step of the way.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our great nation’s founding, I encourage each of you to check out this new book and learn more about Georgia’s role in the American Revolution.
