Early Voting + Wildfire Updates

Dayle and I ask each of you to join us in continuing to pray for the families, farmers, and communities across South Georgia as wildfires continue to burn. I joined Governor Kemp last Sunday in Brantley County to witness firsthand the ongoing relief efforts. It renewed my hope to see so many firefighters, first responders, community leaders, and volunteers come together to do what Georgians do best—lend a helping hand to our neighbors in need.

Thanks to the all-hands-on-deck effort of our state agencies and local partners, the Pineland Rd Fire is now at 32,569 acres and 23% contained, and the Highway 82 Fire is now at 22,601 acres and 32% contained. Please remain vigilant and continue to adhere to public safety guidelines and burn bans to prevent new fires.

Dental College of Georgia Savannah Groundbreaking

On Wednesday, I joined Governor Kemp, Chancellor Perdue, and leaders from Augusta University and Georgia Southern to celebrate the groundbreaking of Georgia’s newest dental school.

This project is a direct reflection of the General Assembly’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare, and the House looks forward to the graduates of DCG Savannah making a lasting difference in communities across our state for generations to come.

Breaking ground on the Dental College of Georgia Savannah

Meeting with Isabella Burgess, an upcoming graduate of the Dental College of Georgia who was recently accepted into DCG’s orthodontic residency program. Congratulations, Isabella!

Screven County Honor Graduate Luncheon

It was great to be at the 27th Annual Screven County Honor Graduate Luncheon to celebrate the accomplishments of the class of 2026. Each of these seniors has gone above and beyond to achieve academic excellence throughout their time in high school, and I know they all have incredibly bright futures ahead of them.

I was also proud to present Ms. Dorothy Glisson with a resolution honoring her years of dedicated service to Screven County. Through her leadership on the Screven County Board of Commissioners, numerous civic organizations, the Coastal Georgia Regional Development Center Restructuring Committee, the Board of the Regional Commission for Screven County, the Screven County Hospital Authority, and the Ogeechee Technical College Board, Ms. Glisson has left an immeasurable mark on our community and greatly improved the lives of the people who call Screven County home.
