Get out the Vote + Georgia Ports

Early voting for the November 3rd General Election began this week, and already, Georgians are turning out in record numbers to cast their ballots and make their voices heard. Now more than ever, it’s important that we elect strong, commonsense conservatives up and down the ticket who will continue working to lower costs, strengthen public safety, and build a brighter future for our state.

Georgia House Republicans have been hard at work sharing our winning message and engaging with voters across the state. Earlier this week, we were proud to join Rick Jackson and Governor Brian Kemp in Savannah as Rick outlined his vision for Georgia’s future. His priorities include strengthening early literacy, expanding workforce training opportunities that lead to good-paying jobs, and improving access to quality healthcare for Georgians across our state.

I was also excited to join Senators Max Burns and Billy Hickman in Emanuel County, where we had the opportunity to speak with voters, constituents, and families about the issues that matter most to our Southeast Georgia communities. From increasing resources for students and educators, expanding our medical workforce, and improving access to skilled trades training to supporting our farmers and strengthening Georgia’s agricultural industry, these are the priorities at the forefront of our work to support rural communities across our state and right here at home.

In addition to the statewide and local officials on the ballot this November, Georgians will have the opportunity to vote on three ballot questions that will impact the future of our state. I hope you’ll join me in voting YES on all three measures.

Early voting ends on October 30th, so please find your polling location and make a plan to get out and vote today.

State of the Ports

On Wednesday, I gathered alongside state leaders and hardworking men and women from across the state to celebrate another record-breaking year for the Georgia Ports Authority.

From Coastal Georgia at the Ports of Savannah and Brunswick to inland facilities as far north as Chatsworth and Gainesville, Georgia’s ports and transportation infrastructure are driving our economy, creating good-paying jobs, and increasing opportunities for hardworking Georgians.

In fact, Georgia’s ports support more than 605,000 jobs across the state.

Whether it’s manufacturers in North Georgia, farmers in South Georgia, small businesses in our rural communities, or the hardworking men and women who deliver those products to their final destination, our ports have created opportunity and delivered an incredible economic impact across Georgia

The House looks forward to continuing to work alongside our partners at the Capitol and the Ports Authority to build on our accomplishments and keep our infrastructure strong, reliable, and efficient for years to come.

Georgia Training Center for Industrial Operations

Southeast Georgia has attracted thousands of good-paying jobs and new economic opportunities over the last several years. While we’re proud of the opportunities coming to our region, we also recognize the importance of ensuring our workforce has the skills and training needed to pursue successful careers.

That’s why the Georgia House was proud to invest nearly $30 million in Ogeechee Technical College’s new Training Center for Industrial Operations, which will equip students with the hands-on training and technical skills they need to succeed in today’s advanced manufacturing industry.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I look forward to hearing from each of you soon.

My best,

Speaker Jon Burns
