2026 Blue-Ribbon Study Committees
The legislative Session may be over, but the House is continuing our work to advance commonsense solutions to the challenges and opportunities that will shape Georgia’s future success.
This week, I announced the creation of seven House Blue-Ribbon Study Committees that will work throughout the interim to gather the facts and hear from citizens, experts, and stakeholders on key policy areas impacting Georgia families, businesses, and citizens.

Bubba Longgrear for State School Superintendent
Championing Georgia’s children and strengthening education opportunities for our students has always been a top priority for the House. That’s why I am proud to endorse Bubba Longgrear for State School Superintendent.
Georgia has made serious commitments to improving educational outcomes for students across our state, particularly through literacy and early learning initiatives that now require strong implementation. Bubba Longgrear understands both the responsibility and the urgency of that work.
He brings experience, credibility, and a clear commitment to making sure our policies lead to real results for students, teachers, and families across Georgia.
Lloyd Arnsdorf Memorial Scholarship Auction
Agriculture education has made a positive impact on countless young Georgians across House District 159 and our entire state. Not only do these incredible programs help strengthen Georgia’s number one industry, but they also teach our students invaluable lessons that prepare them for their futures, no matter what career they decide to pursue.
It was an honor to attend the Effingham County Young Farmers Lloyd Arnsdorf Memorial Scholarship Auction last week, which supports local agriculture education programs and helps students pursue a higher education.
It was a pleasure to meet Effingham County FFA students Lance Graham and Anabelle Tapley at the 2026 Lloyd Arnsdorf Memorial Scholarship Auction
I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I look forward to hearing from each of you soon as the House continues our work to move Georgia forward.
My best,
Speaker Jon Burns
