Kicking off the 2026 Legislative Session
It’s been a great first week back under the Gold Dome in Atlanta as the House kicked off the 2026 Legislative Session.
Georgia Chamber Eggs and Issues Breakfast
On Wednesday, I joined over 3,000 friends, colleagues, business leaders, and local chamber executives at the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s annual Eggs and Issues Breakfast in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
For the members of the General Assembly, this event marks an incredible opportunity for us to gather and hear from each other about the issues we’ll be tackling this legislative session.
Whether it’s property tax reform, income tax reductions, and insurance rate relief, or education, healthcare, and homeownership, the Georgia House looks forward to making life—and the cost of doing business—more affordable for every family and company that calls Georgia home.

Governor Kemp’s Final State of the State
On Thursday, I was honored to welcome Governor Brian Kemp to the House Chamber to deliver his final State of the State Address as Georgia’s 83rd Governor.
For the last seven years, Governor Kemp has led with integrity, determination, and resilience through some of the most difficult times we’ve faced as Georgians and as a nation.
He has also led our state during its heights of achievement.
Governor Kemp has created opportunities for job creators and employers to put their roots down in Georgia—leading our state to historic economic growth and success.
He has also enabled the General Assembly to deliver over 9 billion dollars in tax relief for hardworking Georgians—whether it was through rate reductions, tax returns, or the suspension of the gas tax.
Most of all, he has done what’s best for the great state of Georgia every step of the way—and I know this session will be no different.
We’re looking forward to working alongside Governor Kemp and our friends in the Senate to deliver on the framework he presented for 2026.

Honoring the Life of Abit Massey
Mr. Abit Massey, a beloved friend, advocate, and fixture at the Georgia state Capitol for decades, passed away last year after a long and courageous battle against cancer.
It was my distinct honor to welcome his family to the Capitol and present them with a resolution recognizing his life and legacy. Abit’s resume of accolades and service was long and impressive—whether it was his early service to our state as Commissioner of what is now the Department of Economic Development, or his advocacy on behalf of Georgia’s poultry industry.
But the most impressive thing about Abit Massey wasn’t his professional career; it was his deep devotion to our state and his love for his fellow man.
Mr. Abit made a profound and lasting impact on so many people throughout his life—but especially me and Dayle. We miss him dearly and will continue to strive to carry out the lessons of love, service, and kindness that he taught us.
