Pray for Texas
The entire nation has joined in praying for the people of Texas as we’ve watched the tragic news coverage from the aftermath of the devastating Hill Country Floods. On Wednesday, I gathered with my colleagues in the House to express our support for the people of Texas and offer our prayers as relief efforts continue for the days, weeks, and months to come.
Over 132 lives were lost in the floods, and countless other families are facing the loss of their homes, property, and livelihoods. But even in the aftermath of such an unimaginable tragedy, I’m reminded of the resilience, kindness, and courage of humanity.
From stories of coastguardsmen flying through treacherous conditions to rescue children from campgrounds, parents risking their own lives to save their children, first responders selflessly facing rising floodwaters to evacuate homes, and thousands of volunteers from across the nation offering their help and support to the people of the Hill Country in their greatest time of need—this is the spirit of hope and courage that defines us as Americans. I’m thankful that even in the midst of such darkness, its light still shines through.
I have been in touch with Texas Speaker Dustin Burrows about the best way to support the victims of the floods. If you’re interested in making a financial contribution, please donate through OneStar’s Central Texas Flood Recovery Fund.
Here in Georgia, we know what it’s like to need support when natural disasters strike and leave devastation behind, so now, it’s our turn to do what we do best—lend a helping hand to our neighbors in need.

New Traffic Signals Installed at Effingham County Intersection
On Wednesday, new traffic lights at the intersection of Highway 21 and McCall Road in Effingham County went into operation. The completion of this project represents the unwavering commitment of our community members, elected officials, and state agencies to championing the safety and well-being of the citizens of Effingham County. We know how dangerous this intersection can be, and I’m grateful for each individual who worked diligently to make this safety improvement, which will undoubtedly save lives, a reality.
Additional plans to widen McCall Road for the addition of left-turn lanes and further improvements to the traffic signals are underway.

No Kid Hungry Site Visit
Earlier this week, Dayle had the opportunity to participate in the Burke County summer meal delivery program. Burke County Schools Nutrition Director Allison Lairscy and her team of over 100 volunteers are delivering 32,000 summer meals to children throughout the county each week.
Waynesboro Mayor James "Chick" Jones drives one of the buses that delivers 5 days' worth of breakfasts and lunches to kids who need it most. Communities across Georgia are participating in summer meal programs just like No Kid Hungry, and we’re grateful for the generosity and dedication of each of these communities to ensuring our children are happy and healthy during the summer months.
